Comedy
A dramatic or literary work, usually light in tone, that ends happily, often with reconciliation or marriage.
Comedy aims to amuse and typically resolves conflict in favor of harmony, with confusions untangled by the close. Writers use it to satirize folly, celebrate community, and offer relief and hope. Its upward arc, from disorder to order, opposes tragedy’s descent.
Example
Tangled lovers and magical mischief give way to a triple wedding, the tidy, joyful resolution typical of comedy.
